Will CBD assist with mental health
problems?

CBD’s antipsychotic properties

In 1982, an analysis of associations between THC and CBD in healthy volunteers presented the
first proof that CBD could have antipsychotic characteristics. Our group delivered oral CBD
concomitantly with a high dose of THC to investigate whether CBD could amplify THC-induced
anxiety. Fortunately, in addition to alleviating anxiety, CBD minimized psychotic symptoms
typically caused by THC.

More importantly, this finding was confirmed in a THC trial intravenous injection after oral
chemical treatment with CBD or placebo. Approximately 20% of the population is suffering from
a sort of anxiety. If you’re nervous, you may be looking for a new way to calm your mind and
body. Many patients on Twitter and Facebook have asked if CBD oil is the newest medicine oil,
or whether it can potentially help relieve symptoms of anxiety without having side effects.

The early discovery that CBD decreased THC-mediated psychotic symptoms prompted us to
carry out a seminal analysis to assess the effects of CBD in a model widely used to classify
medications with an antipsychotic profile in laboratory animals.9 The stereotyping induced by
dopamine agonist in rats was clearly reduced by CBD without catalepsy. This finding indicates
that CBD has an atypical antipsychotic pattern.

What’s the CBD oil?

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a natural vegetable oil that contains phytochemicals known as
cannabinoids. Cannabinoids are naturally rendered “feel better” molecules of the body when we
feel safe and comfortable or are engaged in something that brings happiness, like squeezing
someone we care for or settling down for a meal we’re looking forward to. Cannabinoids are
also produced as we sleep well and work out well. Cannabinoids bind to small docking stations
in our bodies called cannabinoid receptors that serve to induce these reactions. Found in 1992,
the key cannabinoid molecule is called anandamide, which is defined from Sanskrit as a peace
molecule. The cannabinoid pathway is the secret to helping the body keep its balance. This
system ensures that our stomach and intestines run properly, keeps inflammation down, and
modulates pain while helping to maintain our mindset in a healthy position. Analysis indicates
that cannabinoids from CBD will inhibit the degradation of anandamide. There is more bliss as
we hold more anandamide in our bodies.

Depression and anxiety

Taking CBD can be helpful for people with anxiety or panic disorders. Any human trials have
demonstrated that CBD can be helpful for other conditions generally associated with
depression, such as anxiety or panic disorder. Any promising findings were found in 2017
analysis of the possible effects of CBD for panic disorder.
Panic disorder, according to the authors, affects about 5% of the world’s population and triggers
sudden and frequent panic attacks. In human models, a single dosage of 300 milligrams (mg) of
CBD induced a substantial decrease in anxiety levels following a simulated public speaking
exercise, according to one report in the analysis. Another research found that 600 mg of CBD
caused a substantial decrease in anxiety in people with a social anxiety disorder.

Is CDB legal?

CBD is not a controlled drug and is entirely legal, for example in the United Kingdom as long as
it contains less than 0.2% THC. To guarantee this, the bulk of CBD components are developed
from hemp – a plant that also belongs to the weed family that contains much less THC than
marijuana.
CBD would not induce any intoxicating effects, since it produces at most a trace of THC, which
is not enough to make you feel intoxicated. Because of this and the possible benefits that CBD
can offer, it is perfectly legal as long as it complies with the recommendations regulations set by
the government.

Conclusion

So obviously, CBD testing is only in the early stages regarding a variety of mental health issues.
There is insufficient evidence for the use of CBD oil for some behavioral illnesses. Some
conditions, including autism and anorexia, have had no studies conducted to see whether CBD
can assist with the associated symptoms.
One of the fascinating results from the study to date is that the dosage observed to have certain
potential positive effects in research appears to be significantly higher than that found in goods
usually marketed to customers today. For eg, most over-the-counter CBD oils and supplements
are in bottles containing a total of 250 to 1000 mg.
